With 20,000 students across 29 physical campuses and one online high school, the Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) has been a premier choice for Pre-K through grade 12 public education for more than 128 years.

Located northeast of metropolitan Phoenix, the District serves the educational needs of students and families in Phoenix, Paradise Valley, Fountain Hills, Tempe and Scottsdale. A highly experienced, professionally certified teaching staff fosters a diverse and rigorous educational environment to develop the potential in every individual learner. SUSD employs 3,000 people including about 1,500 teachers.

SUSD's schools consist of 15 elementary, 3 K-8, 6 middle, and 5 high schools including an online high school. Offering gifted learning, special education, career and technical education, and a variety of athletics, arts and enrichment programs and clubs, SUSD provides the rich environment today’s students need to explore their interests, develop important social skills and grow into tomorrow’s leaders. 

The district celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2021. Its boundaries include most, but not all, of the city of Scottsdale, almost all of the town of Paradise Valley, a section of the city of Phoenix and a section of the city of Tempe.

Kindergarten Roundup

Toddler Program - Students who will be 2 by 8/31/2024

Preschool - Students who will be 3 by 8/31/2024

Our pre-school program is a full day program and is offered at Cherokee, Desert Canyon, Echo Canyon, Laguna, Pueblo, and Navajo. Tuition for the 24-25 school year will be $800/block. There are 10 blocks in a school year. Our pre-school program follows the SUSD calendar. Preschool Assessed Needs in Developmental Areas

PANDA is a preschool program designed to meet the diverse needs of students between the ages of 3-5 years of age as they participate in a holistic approach to a play-based classroom environment.

PANDA programs provide early intervention services for 3-5-year-old children with special needs who are not yet eligible for kindergarten.

Regular enrollment in the Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) is the process by which students are registered to attend one of the district's schools for the upcoming academic year. Families are required to complete online registration forms and submit necessary documentation, including proof of residency within the district boundaries, the student’s birth certificate, and up-to-date immunization records. SUSD also offers enrollment assistance through its centralized enrollment office or individual school sites to help families navigate the process. Once all forms are submitted and reviewed, students are assigned to their designated school based on their residential address or through open enrollment options if space is available. The district emphasizes the importance of timely enrollment to ensure that students are placed in the appropriate grade level and can fully participate in orientation and other preparatory activities before the school year begins. This process is essential to maintaining an organized and effective educational environment across the district.

Live outside of our district boundaries? No problem! You can open enroll into any of our schools to take advantage of our distinct district programs.

Open Enrollment process is an opportunity for students who reside outside of Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) boundaries to enroll in Scottsdale Unified schools, based on availability. Students who live within SUSD boundaries may also use open enrollment to change from their home school. To start the process for open enrollment, fill out the Open Enrollment application listed below. Arizona state law allows students to apply for admission to any public school through open enrollment, based on available classroom space (A.R.S. § 15-816.01).

Acceptance is based on the school’s grade-level and program capacity, and meeting all admission requirements. 

SUSD has four "Schools of Choice" (Cheyenne Traditional School, Echo Canyon K-8, Pueblo Elementarty School, and Scottsdale Online Learning)  with no geographic boundaries for enrollment. To enroll in these schools, all families must apply through open enrollment.
