• Military academies in the U.S. offer an excellent opportunity for students who are interested in serving their country while receiving a quality education at the same time.
• Students at these institutions typically receive free tuition, room, and board as well as a small stipend for personal expenses.
• All 5 of the undergraduate academies have very highly selective admissions.
• All academies require at least 5 years of service upon graduation from one of their institutions.
• Juniors interested in applying to a military academy, applying for ROTC, or other military scholarships need to watch deadlines very carefully!
• The process for seeking a nomination to one of the academies begins early in a student's junior year of high school.

• In addition, many have excellent summer programs which give prospective applicants the experience of what daily life for a cadet would be.
  • These programs are highly competitive, so speak with your counselor for further information to make sure you are prepared. (Example - United States Military Academy, West Point: Summer Leaders Experience)
• Representatives from all military branches and current students at the academies visit Chaparral. Stop by the College & Career Center to ask Ms. Vaught when they will be visiting us next!
