OVERVIEW

Founded in 1972, Chaparral High School (CHS) is accredited by Cognia. CHS is a public, comprehensive, four-year high school, which emphasizes a college preparatory curriculum. CHS has an A rating with the Arizona Department of Education. CHS is in the Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD), which is comprised of 22,000 students across twenty-nine physical campuses, as well as one online high school.

SUSD has been a premier choice for Pre-K through grade 12 public education for more than 125 years. Located northeast of metropolitan Phoenix, the district serves students and families in Maricopa County. Over 30% of Chaparral’s student body comes from outside the normal attendance boundary. Special programs are available for English language learners. CHS offers special education, career and technical education (CTE), advanced placement (AP), dual enrollment (DE), and a variety of athletics, arts, and 70+ clubs.

Academics Testing Data

Due to a decreased emphasis on collegiate standardized testing, many of our students applied to college without submitting a test score. Additionally, Arizona state universities no longer require testing for scholarship or admission purposes. Each year, SUSD pays and registers all juniors for an ACT in the Spring semester. The ACT is used as our state test and is required for all students.
